Despite the low turn out for Reggae Carifest on Saturday, August 25, 2007, the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) protested against Buju Banton and Bounty Killa.
According to reports, GLAAD insisted that Power 105.1 withdraw their sponsorship of the event and were adamant that both Buju and Bounty Killa be taken from the show. But regardless of their protest, both artist did perform. Bounty Killa however proved he could not be censored when he reportedly declared his heterosexuality, making it clear he may never be signing the Reggae Compassionate Act any time soon.
