Nanthaniel Stewart aka Nanko, is being sued by his record label company, Downsound Records, for leaving Jamaica after signing a contract and failing to adhere to its policies. Downsound Records told The Star that repeated efforts to contact the singer has been futile and that due to his absence they have been forced to cancel scheduled events and performances. This they added has resulted in financial losses. However, it seems Nanko's departure was fueled by his belief that Downsound Records has not been paying him fairly and has been reaping the benefits of his work. Downsound Records denies this claim and states that they are only entitled to 25% of his profits and they have dealt with the money on that accord. They expect to settle the dispute legally.
